- Colour-coded, shrouded 4 mm brass binding posts.
Technical Specifications
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|

| Case | High-impact ABS, anti-glare acrylic window |
| Terminals | 4 mm colour-coded shrouded brass binding posts |
How It Is Used
The galvanometer is used as the null detector in Wheatstone bridge, metre bridge and potentiometer experiments: the circuit is adjusted until the pointer rests at the centre zero. Because it deflects either way, it also shows the direction of small induced currents in electromagnetic induction work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Galvanometer have a centre-zero scale?
The pointer can swing either side of zero, so it shows the direction of the current and makes the balance point in bridge circuits easy to see.
How is the pointer of the Galvanometer zeroed?
An external mechanical screw on the case sets the pointer exactly to zero.
