Solar Water Heater Model
Product Code : SCL-PLE-11610
Quick Answer: The Solar Water Heater Model is a working flat-plate solar collector with an elevated insulated storage tank, in which water warmed by the sun circulates on its own by thermosyphon; it measures about 400 x 300 x 450 mm assembled.

How It Is Used
Set in the sun, the collector plate absorbs radiation and warms the water in its pipes. The warm water rises into the higher tank while cooler water sinks back to the collector, so the water circulates without a pump. Students can take temperatures at the tank and the inlet to see solar energy being stored as heat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Solar Water Heater Model need a pump?
No. Water circulates by the thermosyphon effect: warmed water rises from the flat-plate collector into the elevated tank and cooler water returns, by natural convection alone.
