Wire Gauze
Product Code : SCL-CLE-11951
The StemAids Wire Gauze is a fundamental laboratory safety and heating accessory designed to be placed between a heat source (like a Bunsen burner) and glassware. Its primary function is to facilitate indirect heating, preventing the direct flame from coming into contact with the glass. This eliminates "hot spots" that cause thermal stress and potential breakage. Manufactured from high-grade galvanized iron wire with a permanently bonded ceramic fiber center, it is a prerequisite for any boiling, evaporation, or distillation procedure.

Key Pedagogical & Laboratory Outcomes
- Thermal Interface: Facilitates student understanding of Heat Conduction. Learners identify how the wire mesh and ceramic center work together to spread heat evenly across the entire base of the vessel.
- Safety Application: Enables the safe heating of Flat-Bottomed Glassware (beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks); learners apply the gauze to protect the glass from "cold-shocking" or localized melting.
- Physics Analysis: Supports the analysis of "Flame Dispersion"; students evaluate how the mesh disrupts the laminar flow of the flame, creating a wider, more uniform heating zone.
- Stability Evaluation: Provides a platform for evaluating experimental setups; the flat, textured surface of the gauze provides extra friction, preventing beakers from sliding off the tripod during a vigorous boil.
Why the Ceramic Center?
While all-wire gauzes exist, the Ceramic Center (often called the "bullseye") is the industry standard for two reasons:
- Intense Heat Buffering: The ceramic material absorbs the most intense heat from the tip of the flame and radiates it outward, preventing the "focused" heat that cracks Borosilicate glass.
- Longevity: The ceramic protects the metal wires from melting or oxidizing too quickly in the hottest part of the flame, extending the life of the gauze.
International Logistics & Compliance
StemAids ensures comprehensive OEM readiness for global institutional procurement:
- Packaging: Export-grade bulk packaging. Gauzes are flat-packed in heavy-duty cartons with interleaving to prevent the ceramic centers from cracking or flaking during maritime transit.
- Documentation: Includes Manufacturer’s Authorization Form (MAF), Certificate of Conformance (CoC), and Non-Asbestos Certification (critical for international safety compliance).
- Durability: Our galvanization process is deep-bonded to resist the high-moisture environment of a chemistry lab, where water vapor is a byproduct of gas combustion.
Direct OEM Sourcing Advantages
Procuring StemAids Wire Gauzes directly ensures vertical manufacturing control:
- Bonded Ceramic Integrity: Direct oversight ensures the ceramic center is mechanically pressed and bonded, preventing it from falling out after the first few uses.
- Safety Edging: We ensure all four edges of the wire mesh are double-folded and flattened to prevent student fingers from being scratched by sharp wire ends.
- Direct Factory Inventory: Available in all standard sizes (5”,6”,and 8”) and in bulk quantities for large-scale institutional tenders.
- Quality Assurance: Every batch is "flame-tested" to ensure the ceramic material does not emit toxic fumes or "spatter" when first introduced to heat.
